State Proposal Could Close our local Schools

Sacramento is considering a bill that threatens to close McCloud High School and McCloud Elementary School and 10 other Siskiyou County Schools. You can help stop Sacramento from seizing control of our student's education. Interestingly this bill is called "Local Control Funding Formula" but in essence it will be taking the control of our small community schools from our county and placing it in the hands of Sacramento. In the trailer bill there is a provision that removes necessary small school status from any elementary school below 100 students that is within 10 miles of another larger elementary school. The mileage criterion extends to 15 miles for high schools. This criteria could have a significant impact on our local schools.

You can contact your lawmakers and help support our local schools. Stop "local control" that takes control to Sacramento and protect your local tax dollars. I have provided some sample letters as well as contact information in the links below.
